National Action Plan on AMR - HPSS contributes to stakeholder meeting

HPSS project participated in a workshop and stakeholder meeting in Dar es Salaam from 21-25 February that was called by Ministry of Health (MoH) but jointly organized by The Medicines, Technologies, and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) and Management Sciences for Health (MSH) to review the implementation of the 2017 National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (NAP-AMR) and its monitoring framework with a focus on Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS).

The Ministry of Health (MoH) after development and during implementation of National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (NAP) is responsible for multisectoral coordination.
MTaPS in cooperation with the AMR coordination office at the MoH and other partners including HPSS support the implementing and review of the National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (NAP) 2017-2022.

In a preceding workshop, participants worked on the M&E framework including the definition of indicators and related checklists for monitoring activities and results regarding AMR activities in Tanzania. Initiatives, research and partners were mapped. During the following stakeholder meeting, the implementation status of AMS activities was discussed. In addition, the related indicators and checklists for monitoring the Standard Treatment Guidelines /National Essential Medicine List (STG/NEMLIT) and the Medicine Therapeutic Committees (MTC) were reviewed.  Prof Jeremiah Seni from Bugando (CUHAS) in his capacity as chairman of the TWG on AMS in the Multisectoral Coordination Committee (MCC) and Mrs Siana Mapunjo from the MOH moderated the meeting.
